The 25-Year-Old Has Just One Year Left On His Current Contract At Anfield And He Is Yet To Sign An Extension, Casting Doubt Over His Future At The Club. Real Madrid ‘In Serious Contact’ With €100m Liverpool Star As Both Parties Agrees Personal Terms

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly in talks with Real Madrid as the Spanish giants consider a remarkable move for the England international. With just one year remaining on his current contract at Anfield and no extension in sight, Alexander-Arnold’s future with Liverpool is uncertain.

Despite being named Liverpool’s vice-captain last summer, Real Madrid has shown interest in Alexander-Arnold for several months. The Spanish club sees him as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal, who is now 32 years old.

For the past four years, Real Madrid has been linked with signing a new right-back, with Chelsea’s Reece James initially being their main target. However, Alexander-Arnold has recently emerged as a viable option, and according to BILD’s Christian Falk, Real Madrid is now in contact with the Liverpool star. Alexander-Arnold’s strong relationship with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham further fuels this interest.

Real Madrid is also targeting Alphonso Davies for the opposite flank and has strengthened their attack with Kylian Mbappe and Endrick as part of their quest for European dominance.

Jurgen Klopp, before stepping down as Liverpool manager, acknowledged that Alexander-Arnold could benefit from a new head coach at Anfield. Klopp praised Alexander-Arnold’s talent and development, noting the value of new influences for his growth.“He has been a fantastic player from the first day,” Klopp said. “[He is an] outstanding talent and [he] has turned into a world-class football player.

It is rare as a manager you are part of a journey for such a long time. Trent has never had another manager so it will be good for him to get new influences in the future. But he can be happy with the steps he has made. It is nice to have these players around. I have nothing bad to say about him and his development. He has a story that not many clubs can write but he will be someone people talk about in 30 years.”

Last season, Alexander-Arnold made 37 appearances across all competitions, contributing 12 goals and assists. His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) is €38.7 million, primarily due to having only one year left on his Liverpool contract. His highest ETV was in August 2022, when he was valued at €103.5 million.
