The shirt number that Brazilian teenager Endrick will wear at Real Madrid has been announced, following a change in the original plan to assign him the No. 9 jersey.
A year and a half after agreeing to join the Spanish club from Palmeiras, the attacker is now set to be officially introduced as a Madrid player on Saturday, having had to wait until he turned 18 before leaving Brazil.
The striker was originally set to receive the No. 9 jersey at the Santiago Bernabeu, but that plan was altered when Kylian Mbappe took the number after joining from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. Instead, Endrick will wear the No. 16 shirt in his first season with Los Blancos, according to AS.
Endrick wore the No. 16 when he made his senior debut with Palmeiras at age 16 before later switching to his preferred No. 9, and he will start his Madrid career in a similar fashion.
