It looks like Manchester United will have a busy summer under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, marking the first transfer window under a new management structure. Technical director Jason Wilcox will soon be joined by chief executive Omar Berrada, alongside Christopher Vivell and long-time target Dan Ashworth.
Together, they will oversee United’s recruitment process, with reports suggesting the club is closing in on a crucial signing.According to Fabrizio Romano, United’s priority is to secure a new left-back due to recurring injury issues with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia last season. Players like Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Sofyan Amrabat, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka had to fill in at times. Sergio Reguilon was also on loan from Spurs in the first half of the season before his spell was cut short.
According to reports from Spain via Football 365, Manchester United are targeting 22-year-old left-back Miguel Gutierrez. Gutierrez has been with Girona, a sister club of Manchester City, since 2022, accumulating 76 appearances over two seasons. In the 2023/24 season, Gutierrez made 40 appearances, scoring two goals and providing seven assists as Girona finished third in La Liga, earning a historic qualification to the Champions League. Reports suggest that Real Madrid will activate their option to buy Gutierrez back for just €8 million. However, Gutierrez is unlikely to add to his 10 first-team appearances for the European champions due to a lack of available squad spots. Real Madrid are focused on securing their top target Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich and will consequently sell Gutierrez immediately. Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal have all shown interest, but reports indicate that Real Madrid have “agreed” to accept Manchester United’s offer of €40 million (£34 million) for Gutierrez.
